| AFS随想录之一 姜晶景 There goes the moon sparking in the sky Every day , every night,
Time passes by, Spring, summer, autumn, winter, Go with the moon, the sun, Like the light in the backyard with all the lightning bugs, Never last long, But forever young forever young…
One year, it really seemed to be long for all the parents who had been worrying about their only son or daughter in another new world and looking forward to their final coming back. But for me ,I wish it could have been longer. I can say, this year is one of the best years I have ever been through in my life. I learnt a lot , much more than I can ever imagine to be learnt in one year. My English has been improved amazingly. Before, when I started to talk, I really need to think about what I want to say and how to say, while right now, it just come right out of my mouth when somebody talks to me in English. And after one year talking English around the native speakers, my English accent has been reduced to the least. Well, the most thing I achieved in this year is the maturity of my mind. I have wondered the sense of living, have wondered how to deal with people, have wondered why I had chosen to become an exchange student, have wondered what I want to do later on, have wondered how much I would during this year, have wondered how much I have changed and also have worried whether I would be able to fit in later on back in Shanghai. Last Thursday, at 8p.m., in PuDong International Airport, I got back home after about 24 hours flying and waiting in the airport. When I first realized that I am home again, my heart was junping so hard. I became so excited. Finally, I am home again. Looking at all the face of my relatives and friends, I know, this is my home, my motherland, the very place I have been grown up at. East or west, home is best. After this year, I totally got to what it means. I also learnt a lot from the school. As we all know, they use different education system. Their principle is to made studying easier. They don’t have the same classroom all day long, instead the students go to different classes where the teachers stay all the time. Actually it is their classroom and also the working office. Thus students can meet more people to promote their social capability and also every teacher makes their room special for the course so you can tell where you are major from the management in the classroom. The way the teacher to teach differs from one to one and they try their best to make learning easy for their like watching movies, making chats or posters, make a pop quiz or academic bowl and give students chance to make a speech, presentation with brochures or handouts. And also the teachers put a lot of effort to develop the students’ team working capability. It is usually two or four people per group, maybe they will work on a poster with a speech or a displaying play. The community service and the charity are the other stuff that really surprised me. In every community, there is an office to deal all the difficulties the residents. There are clubhouse and public pools tennis court to provide a better life for everyone in the community. And most people go to church every Sunday morning and maybe Sunday night and also on Thursday. Every church has a selected youth group for youngsters and also all other classes for people at different ages. And the youth group is just like another class for youngster to learn something, which they can’t learn at school, like Bible study and the social life. I am really grateful for being an exchange student for one year. I really learnt a lot and it will do me good for my entire life. I even think I got more than I can get in my entire life. Plus, your hostfamily you have last year will become your life style friend and also all the other exchange students you meet in the local AFS area will stay your friends too. Imagine this, later on, wherever you travel, you will have friends there and friends all around the world. May the good lord be with you
