2011 Shanghai International Sister Cities Youth Camp

In order to promote mutual exchange and communication between international sister cities (states, provinces) and Shanghai, to demonstrate the charms of Shanghai as a metropolitan, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SHMEC) has held Shanghai International Sister Cities Youth Camp annually in summers of 2009 as well as 2010, which have attracted over one hundred students and teachers from Quebec of Canada, Valparaiso of Chili, Kwazulu-Natal of South Africa, Queensland of Australia, Dunedin of New Zealand, Rhone-Alpes of France, Cork of Ireland, Liverpool of UK, Haifa of Israel, Busan of Korea, Nagasaki of Japan, etc. The two-week varied and colorful Youth Camp have left a wonderful “Shanghai impression” on the participants.

The successful Youth Camps in the past two years have provide gorgeous opportunities for teenagers from international sister cities (states, provinces) and Shanghai to live, study and tour together in order to enhance mutual communication and understanding, to strengthen friendship among teenagers from all over the world.

In order to implement Outline of China's National Plan for Medium and Long Term Education Reform and Development and Outline of Shanghai’s Plan for Medium and Long Term Education Reform and Development, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission is planning to hold “2011 Shanghai International Sister Cities Youth Camp with the purpose to upgrade the educational internationalization of the city, to carry forward China's profound history and traditional culture, to improve Shanghai’s soft power, competitiveness as well as its influence and to motivate the international exchange and cooperation between international sister cities (states, provinces) and Shanghai.
